2023 Colors of Advent Fundraiser

Rev. Richard’s fundraiser to raise donations for Prostate Cancer Research and the work of Nashwaaksis United , resulted in a purple beard !
Colours of Advent Fundraiser – Update!
We are nearing the start of the season of Advent, and that means that we are nearing the end of the Colours of Advent Fundraiser!
Over the past few weeks you have been invited to vote on your favourite Advent colour (blue or purple) by making donations through cash, cheque, or by making etransfers. So far we have raised a total of $735! These funds will be divided equally between prostate cancer research and the work of Nashwaaksis United Church.

Throughout the fundraiser, Blue has been in the lead, and sits at $460 while Purple has been slowly catching up, sitting today at $275. There is still time to get your donations in and have your say, because whichever colour raises the most will be the colour of Rev. Richard’s beard throughout the season of Advent!
To cast your vote, you can make a donation in person at the office through the week, or by dropping it in the offering plate on Sunday with cash or a cheque, or you can make a donation anytime through etransfer at donations@nashwaaksisunited.ca. However you give, just make sure to include a note of the colour of your choice in the memo line or the message for etransfers.
Good luck, and may the best Advent colour win!
Colours of Advent Fundraiser
Which is your favourite Advent colour, blue or purple? Through the season of Advent we will see the colours of blue, purple which symbolise our waiting (blue) and Christ’s royalty (purple). To highlight this, Rev. Richard is offering to dye his beard in one of those colours.
Starting on November 1st and throughout that month, we are inviting you to make special offerings (through e-transfer, cash, or cheque) with a note for the colour that you want to win, blue or purple. Whichever colour raises the most money will be the colour of Rev. Richard’s beard throughout the season of Advent!
Half of the proceeds raised will go to prostate cancer research, and the other half will go to our work serving Christ here at NUC. As an added incentive, if we manage to raise $5,000, Rev. Richard will dye his beard and his hair the winning colour!
E-transfers can be sent to donations@nashwaaksisunited.ca, just be sure to include the colour of your choice!

World Wide Communion and Hymn-Sing Sunday, October 1st
October 1st is going to be a busy day!
This Sunday (and the 1st Sunday of each month following) we are inviting you to come a little early for worship so that we might join our voices in song! Worship starts at 10:30, so try to arrive around 10:20 and bring your requests. Please use the Voices United or the More Voices Selections books in the pews to pick your hymns so we can all sing along!

During worship, we will be celebrating the sacrament of communion together. So come, all of you who are a variety of ages, races, nationalities, genders, and sexualities, and know that the table of Christ is open to you!

So bring your singing voice and a heart that hungers for justice as we worship God together!
